The Complete Pet has a line of books titled Horse Tales for the Soul. A portion of the proceeds from these books will go to Saddle Up Riding Club if you use our link to visit their site.
Flip>
What to say about Flip, he was our first horse, he's the rock, the heart of this club, 22 and been here, there and done it all. Our new club members usually start out on Flip, he's so calm for the younger children, but definatley has his stubborn streak. Flip likes barn time for the treats he knows he'll get when all the kids arrive, he loves apples, carrots, sugar cubes, but blueberries best of all. Flip is a registered spotted saddlebreed and shows best english but has been known to do a bit of western every now and then. Flip cleans up so beautifully and at 22 still likes to strut his stuff in the show ring.
Zipper>
Zipper is one of the sweetest, calmest horses we have. Just like Flip he helps the young kids learn to ride, only 8 years old but about as bomb proof as they come (until he sees, the mini pulling the cart). Zipper is a registered foundation quarter horse and will ride english but does western best of all. Zipper loves to talk and will always nicker when we walk into the barn. Zipper is a true blue trusted friend to all.
Fancy>
Fancy is Saddle Up Riding Clubs newest project horse. Fancy is sweet little head strong typical pony. You'd never know she has cancer, healthy and all fattened up. She loves the attention all the kids give her, and we truly believe this is what has helped her in her recovery. Not for the faint at heart, fancy wants to go. She'll walk for hours but once she trots, watch out, she's the energizer pony. Fancy is 14 and her best friend and buddy is Zipper. Lord willing Fancy will stay cancer free and be with us for a long time to come.
Libby>
Libby is 8 and her nickname is "Princess". She truly is a sweet spirited quarter horse mare. Libby was our first project horse, underweight and distrusting. She has gained over 150 lbs now and trusts humans more everyday. Libby would be a great barrel horse, but we like to keep her calm working her to be a hunter pony. Libby likes to jump as well and is so sensitive to the touch, " the perfect Perelli pony". The more you are around Libby the more her sweet little spririt grows on you.
Buddy>
Buddy is just that, a "Buddy". Laid back, mellow, just goes with the flow (unless you try to tie him), hard to believe he's an ex-race horse. Buddy will do whatever you want. English, Western and jumping of course. 12 years old and 16 hands, he's our big boy. We love Buddy, cribbing and all.
Lando>
Lando, like Flip has been there and done it. At 26 Lando still wins at the shows, but he has been semi-retired to walking and trotting the beginners and helping with the theraputic program. Lando is the man of the heard and watches out for all the mares. Lando like Flip, Zipper and Buddy is a trusting true blue horse. Easliy ridden by anyone. Thanks to Jaqui, Jade and Drake for allowing us to lease Lando for our program.
Katie>
Katie is our alpha mare. She definately is in charge of the herd and keeps everyone in their place. Beautiful, and she knows it, Katie is just beginning to be used by the club this year. At 8 Katie is mellowing and beginning to trust, shes a fast walker, with a nice trot. Katie likes to please but requires some patience to ride. Katie does what Katie wants. We are working on getting Katie finished off this year so that she can be an active member of both clubs and hopefully be leased by a 4-Hr and shown.
Andy>
Andy is our sweetie - he's a big boy with such a baby face you just want to pinch those chubby jowls. Andy is a registered Appaolossa, he's the protector of the herd. Andy is only 7 , not finished off yet but has a great deal of potential to be a wonderful horse. I am sure Andy will be the favorite of the older kids in the club. Andy would also be a wonderful horse for a 4-Hr to lease and show in the next year.
Bella>
Bella - our baby Bella is all grown up. 2 years old now, Bella has her place in the herd, right along side of Katie. Bella tries to rule the roost, yet adopted mama Katie keeps her in her place. Bella is a beautiful little Arabian - Quarter Horse mix. We have had Bella since she was 2 months old and have gotten her about as bombproof as they come. This next year we will begin putting her under saddle and hopefully by the time she is 3 she will be sound enough in her legs to begin her duties in the club. We also are going to teach Bella to drive, so that we have a cart pony for the club.
Ringo>
Ringo, aka Mr. Itchy, is the best horse in the world. He has wanted to be a club horse for 2 years, but his health issues, and the behavior issues they caused, have held him up. He is doing much better now, and the new barn really agrees with him. With a heart of gold...well, fool's gold...he loves to spend his time patiently waiting for food, eagerly trotting for Sarah, and watching Sophie fly through the air.
Just like so many people work in the background to make the club a success, Ringo is a background horse, always there, always involved, just never in the limelight. Ringo hopes to become a full fledged club horse soon.
